L A T E S T

5 years ago we released an album by NxxxxxS called Fujita Scale. As it was his very first vinyl pressing we didn’t know exactly how it’d go down so we selected 9 choice tracks for a 12” LP. The album sold out fairly quickly and has since turned into a cult classic. For its 5th anniversary we’ve decided to reissue the record but this time on a double, gatefold LP with all 15 tracks and we’ve once again recruited Ivan P to update the iconic artwork. The tornado which featured so ominously on the original sleeve has since passed leaving a trail of destruction in paradise. Check out the visuals below and click on the button underneath that to reserve your copy of the wax!

Shouts to Markings AKA Mark Jack for putting together this new Headcount mix to celebrate our 15th year in the music game. Featuring some of our favorite releases of the last few solar orbits. Expect tracks by Eyedress, Kadhja Bonet, NxxxxxS, HashFinger, M.A BEAT!, Cocktail Party Effect, Liam Back, Footshooter, Steve Jansen, Py, Fake Laugh & Ta-Ra

Fake Laugh (AKA Kamran Khan) kicks off 2018 with a luscious double A Side on limited edition 7” vinyl and digital formats. Following on from the release of his self-titled, debut album last Summer and ready to hit the road in support of Girl Ray on their UK tour, Kam delivers these two very different but equally peachy cuts. The London & Berlin based songwriter once again recruited Theo Verney to help produce the brutally honest love ballad ‘Better For Me’ and the fuzzed up earworm ‘On Loop’ – both offering a fresh take on the personal journey of Fake Laugh. We're throwing a party to celebrate 15 years since we released our first record. It's being held in the bar at Patterns nightclub in Brighton (UK). Check the event page for more info.

We're very proud to release the new mini LP 'SunrayZ' by French artist Ta-Ra (previously known as Ta-Ha). We've been huge fans since  2015 when she dropped the NxxxxxS produced track 'Lil Bit'. SunrayZ is available to stream across all platforms and we're now taking pre-orders for the limited edition vinyl.

Really happy to have signed Fake Laugh (AKA Kamran Khan). This London/Berlin based artist has got an incredible talent for songwriting. His self titled, debut album is out now on Headcount.

Working with the amazing Steve Jansen on his album Tender Extinction was a fantastic experience so with the 10th anniversary of his debut solo album 'Slope' on the horizon we’ve developed something special. Slope has never been released on vinyl before so Headcount have pressed 300 copies on to a double, gatefold LP.

We're so pleased to continue working with Bradford based, beat maker HashFinger. Following on from ‘Lessons’ and ‘Kites’ - 'Elsewhere' is the 3rd album he's released on Headcount Records and is comprised of 16 brand new tracks. The boom bap trilogy is complete.

'Remember Last Summer' the new album by NxxxxxS is out now on Headcount Records. Following on from Fujita Scale and Synthetic Corporation, the Parisian producer has delivered a more horror themed catalogue. Huge props to Sucuk und Bratwurst for the amazing artwork.

Check out the trailer for Liam Back's new cassette 'Thruway Lane'. There won't be many tape cassettes with an advert this flashy. Out now on Headcount Records.

The Ghostdance EP + Selected Cuts by Py (AKA Jade Pybus) is out now on Headcount Records. Featuring production from Throwing Snow, Mr Mitch, George FitzGerald and Py herself.

In 1978 Japan released their debut album Adolescent Sex and kick started a career that would span decades. With Steve Jansen on drums the band enjoyed huge success whilst simultaneously creating a back catalogue of music that still inspires today. Fast forward to 2007 and after many years working and collaborating with artists such as Richard Barbieri, Yukihiro Takahashi, Ryuichi Sakamoto & Bernd Friedmann, Steve released his debut, solo album Slope. This experimental, imaginative and vivid project set the bar high for Steve as a solo artist and it wasn’t until 2016 that he followed it up with his new album Tender Extinction. Tender Extinction is an introspective, sprawling and at times haunting album with each track taking on its own unique aesthetic and individual journey. Initially released on Bandcamp in April, Headcount Records have now released the project on 180g, lacquer cut, double LP.

We’ve been fans of Parisian based trio M.A. BEAT! since they dropped their amazing video for Turquoise. In collaboration with their label Black Milk Music we’ve released a their Split EP on limited edition tape cassette. Side A houses 4 brand news tracks by the band whist side B sees their Russian friend and collaborator ~ AKA Dadaisme deliver 4 unique, electro folk cuts. Check out the visuals for Four Hands above and be sure to cop the tape before they’re all gone.

Check out the video (directed by Julius Valledor) for Lies Tear Us Apart by Eyedress. This track is taken from his incredible album Shapeshifter, out now on limited edition pink vinyl. The lovely people at Norman Records describe it as such;

"Eyedress is a strange creature, and so is Shapeshifter. Featuring a load of artists near to his Manila home and across the world including rapper ThisisDA, Pyramid Vritra, Jiin, and the opening track has King Krule’s alter ego Edgar the Breathtaker delivering a Space Ape esque monologue. This album moves from dark witch-housey beats and grimey vocals to shiny pop and vocoders with ease".

Liam Back delivers some nostalgic visuals for Immature Dreams, one of the standout cuts from his recent album Vacant Sean, out now on Headcount.
